news, news, and ... projects!!

So do we ever have news! First of all I got myself the most expensive birthday present I've ever bought, and I am no longer a four-eyes. Yup, that's right, I got my eyes fixed. To be perfectly honest it is kind of a pain right now because my eyes get dry really really fast, and so computer work is not working so well. But I am optimistic that this will pass as they heal. It has only bee 5 days, so my face still feels very naked!

Other news: we sold our house, and so we will be moving not once but twice this year. Sigh. It's a good thing, really; we're house-sitting for some friends in June, for about a year, so our rent will be minimal, but the possession date for our house is in March so we need something in the meantime. We're looking at a place tonight, so we'll see how that goes. Updated addresses will be forthcoming via email -- at least email addresses won't change!

That's pretty much it, although to me both of those seem fairly significant :-)

I'm still working on plenty of projects, both work-related and otherwise. In the otherwise category, I realized as I was sorting out various boxes (getting ready to move) that we have WAY too many old baby clothes. So I am in the process of making a rag quilt out of some of them, that way I still have those outfits that are too precious to give away nearby, without taking up huge amounts of storage space. I thought it would be really tedious, but I did a little one for A and it went surprisingly quickly. Must run -- more on my latest projects later!

worth watching

no money required, but worth watching: dove evolution, an ad from the Dove company.

worth the money

You know how you go to Sears or Walmart or where ever and you go to pick up the pictures and they try to sell you the fancy-dancy version? Or maybe you take pictures at home and you think how nice this picture or that one would be blown up to 8x11 and put on the wall? Well, for all you moms, dads, grandparents, aunts, uncles and other relatives and caregivers, I want to to tell you to spend that extra money and do it. Buy it for yourself or for your kids or for your friends, and they will thank you for it one day, even if not right away.

I say this because I'm sitting here in my office, looking at my wall and I have pictures of my family, especially of the little ones as they have changed through-out the years, and they make my heart happy. And it's worth it to spend a little money to make your heart happy every now and again!

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and is well into a Happy New Year. We had a lovely stay-at-home holiday this year, and we borrowed lots of books and videos from the library and ate all the goodies I've been baking since September and just generally relaxed. Back to school for Joe and K on Monday -- me, I get to sleep in because I am on a study leave for 6 months. At least, that's the theory... (just kidding)

I just wish the wind would stop so that my head would stop hurting! I find that it's always easier to think without a headache. go figure :-)
