Well, I haven't anything really exciting to write about, but I figure an update never hurts. I've been madly making stuff for my sister-in-law, who is expecting her first child in July. I keep meaning to take pics of my creations and post them. What fun is it to make stuff if you can't brag about it? And Joe's reaction is just not satisfying enough: "huh. cute." It could have been worse, I'll admit!
It's final exam time, so I am watching my students think and write madly as I post this. I hate finals, whether I'm a prof or a student. Exams suck on both ends, trust me.
This weekend I get a chance to recall what it is like to have only one child, as Joe is taking K with him on his trip. I have all sorts of things I'd like to do with A, but of course, work is likely to interfere. I can't even rely on having the weekend off, as I have a bunch of resumes to review for Monday, final exam marking, and a paper due May 1. No, I haven't been procrastinating!
My latest project is plants; we've dug up the gravel that runs alongside our driveway and we're planning to put in a flower bed. Now, individual plants usually run from $1.00 to $5.00 each, so that could add up fairly fast, so the kids and I bought some seeds and are trying to grow snapdragons, everlastings, nasturtiums, and ... I forget the last type! Also, we had sunflowers last year, and this year there are bunch of little sprouts downwind of where the sunflowers were. So I *think* they are sunflowers -- but they might not be. The trees tend to send out little seeds which sprout about this time of year too, so I hope I'm not cultivating umpteen-billion baby trees instead of sunflowers! We'll find out sooner or later, I guess :-) Hey, I should do some before and after pics, that would be fun!
Ok, back to work...
